Welcome to the Sweet Shoppe in Crisfield, MD. Our specialty is Maryland's state dessert, a moist homemade cake with 10 ultra-thin, individually baked layers carefully stacked and frosted. We bake Smith Island cakes using our family's Smith Island cake recipe. We are Cheryl and Gary Tull, and we were born and raised on Smith Island. I learned to bake the 10-layer chocolate cake from my grand cousin Frances Kitching. Most every Friday night both my mother and my grandmother would make a famous Smith Island layer cake. Shipping & Handling
Order your cake 3 or more days before you want to serve it. If you need a cake in a hurry, call us. We'll work with you to get it there as soon as possible. Your Smith Island cake is carefully placed in a sturdy insulated box with dry ice or frozen gel packs to keep it cool.
Warm Weather Shipping
To ensure quality product during the spring and summer months, online orders received after 12 noon on Thursday will get shipped the following Monday.
